بررسی میزان استفاده از روش های پیشگیری از بارداری قبل از اولین حاملگی

Abstract:

Introduction & Objective: Spacing between marriage and the first pregnancy concludes to develop of mutual couples' relationship, preparation of children training, economical growth of the, family and consequently straightening of the family. Therefore, this study was performed to determine the rate of contraceptive methods use before the first pregnancy among nulliparous women. Materials & Methods: This retrospective descriptive –analytic study was performed on 564 nulliparous women who came to the health centers of Hamadan in 2006. Sampling method was simple clustering and data was gathered with questionnaire and was analyzed by SPSS / 13. Results: The mean of age of persons whom studied was 23.4 years old and the average time between marriage and the first pregnancy was 24.5 months. 80.7% of couples used contraceptive methods before first pregnancy and the average time using this methods was 19.2 months and 64.8% of women used them 1 year or more. After marriage most common contraceptive methods were combined OCs (48.5%), withdrawal (36%) and condom (14.6). 28.9% of persons who used contraceptive methods discountinued her first methods and used another method sands and 78.62% of them used combined OCs as first contraceptive method. The most common used new metods was withdrawal(61.8%). The most common sources of information about contraceptive methods was family planning centers (61.3%). Conclusion: Most couples used contraceptive methods before the first pregnancy and used methods more than 1 year. The most common contraceptive method was combined OCs and the most common sources of informations about contraceptive methods was family planning centers.
